Pampered pooches

One of the much-loved features of Haviland Cottage is the unique dog snug, complete with a day-bed, moveable dog beds, a watering station and even a Smart TV!

Dog Sitting, Walking and Grooming Service

We have teamed up with Nikita's Pet Services, who can provide Dog walking, sitting and grooming service at Haviland Cottage , so if you a planning a full day excersion , or perhas a day at the Isle of Wight Music Festival your dog can be professionally looked after !

Happy hounds

Your dogs will have freedom to roam around the ground floor. We have Italian limestone which will be spotless for your arrival and easy to clean. Your pets will also love the underfloor heating.

Outdoor spaces

There is also plenty of outdoor space around the property, including 3/4 acres of secluded and dog secure gardens and terraces, most behind 7 foot high thick stone walls. The back garden is on several levels ,  proven to be dog secure from your escape artists , and you can gain direct access to the dog snug.  The large front garden is flat , behind thick stone walls , however it does have an ornamental pond ( which has metal grills ) which you may need to keep an eye on if your dog likes water!

Direct access to stunning dog walks

Your pets will love the walks around here. We recommend a walk to St Boniface down, its the highest point on the island and directly behind the cottage. There are also lots of wonderful walks to be enjoyed down to the coastal paths and a literary walk around the village which proved inspirational for Charles Dickens when he stayed in the area.

Allergy advice and cleaning

When our guests leave, we have a professional cleaning regime which means that everything is meticulously cleaned from top to bottom. If you do have allergies, please take this into consideration before booking.
Visit Isle of Wight Guide for dogs

The Island's Official Tourism Wesite has produced a wonderful guide for dogs "If your four-legged friend could choose their favourite holiday destination in the UK, we’d bet it would be the Isle of Wight. We’re one of the most dog-friendly places to visit, with a massive variety of walks around our coastlines, beaches to be sniffed, places to be explored and acres of downland and woodland to be scampered on. Dogs are welcome on most of our beaches all year round and there are loads of places to eat at and stay in that would be honoured to host your pooch – as well as you, of course. "

Taking your dogs across to the Island

Both Red Funnel and Wightlink , go out of their way to make taking your dogs across the Solent as easy as possible on their Car Ferries

Both companies allow dogs to stay un-accompanied in your car during the crossing , however if you do this, please disable any movement alert alarms in the car, and on windy days car alarms go off due to the ships movement, which could distress your dogs .

We recommend taking your dogs upstairs with you ,  both Red Funnel and WightL allow dogs on the outer decks , and they also have dedicated Pet Friendly lounges with hard flooring, and water bowls for your dogs.  Travelling in these lounges is also fun, often the most sociable parts of the  ferries!

Here are their Dog Guides:
